Kansas City Wedding Videographer

Fun fact: I also offer wedding videography! The more you know, right?

Morgan and Rob had a small wedding at her grandparents’ private estate in Kansas City. My team and I did photography and videography for the full day. Click here to see the blog post with our photos from Morgan and Rob’s! Wedding videography is something that I am so lucky to be finally diving into, this year. When I turned 18, I started working for an amazing photo and video team here in Kansas City, Anecdotally Yours. They taught me the ropes, and I had several years of working with them at the beginning of my career. I am so grateful for that experience because it really felt like I was learning from the best in the biz.

I knew when I started offering Kansas City wedding videos that I wanted to give my couples something that I felt was lacking in other pockets of the industry. So many wedding films put so much focus onto curated, staged moments. And maybe that’s the right vibe for some folks, but I wanted my wedding films to feel like a polished home video. You shouldn’t have to perform for your wedding videographer or your photographer. All that you need to do is arrive on your wedding day and live in it, fully. My wedding day approach is entirely documentary: I am nothing but a fly on the wall. I love being able to preserve little moments in photos and film that my couples would otherwise not remember. Photography is definitely my passion and will always be my home base when it comes to my #skillz but there’s something so special about videography. I love the idea of offering someone a moving picture that really incorporates the sound and movement that made their day so unique and engages all of the senses.

Funny story while I was editing this one - Morgan’s family has a bunch of pets, cats and dogs. I couldn’t resist keeping them in this film, they definitely added so much light to the entire day. I kept them throughout the entire film as a little thread that tied it all together, almost as if we were watching the wedding day from their eyes, haha! Her parents’ 13 year old poodle Lily even donned a wedding dress of her own for the occasion.

Toasts and vows are such an important component of a good wedding film. It can be so much more than just a music video highlight. I loved Morgan’s dad’s words during the reception. He offered the sweetest advice that us all tearing up. I hope that they can keep this little nugget of love as a memory to hold those words in place for decades to come. I owe a big thank you to my photo assistant Emily and to David Vincent for his excellent filmwork and help on this big day! Click here to see the full gallery from their wedding day! Yes - the whole thing, all 1349 images. :)
