Kansas City Wedding at Uptown Theatre

Best Day. Best Friends.

Everything about Ali and Tommy’s wedding day amplified what meant the most from them. These two truly are the best of friends - it’s so obvious when you meet them. Together they are goofy, hilarious, and entirely themselves. I’m talking shotgun-a-beer-and-make-it-graceful kind of best friends. They had a huge bridal party that hyped them up all day long, through a rainy wedding day and all of the unexpected that comes along with it. Emily and I filmed and photographed their wedding at St. Agnes and reception at Uptown Theatre along with our friend David Fiser and I’m so excited to finally share these images!

Mackenzie with Hitched was an amazing assistant to the day! Anytime that I get lucky enough to work alongside the Hitched crew I know it’s going to be a good one. Mackenzie kept the timeline moving smoothly all day long. They also provided all of the florals for the wedding, which were amazing! Uptown Theatre is such a beautiful venue on it’s own, in a historical building on Broadway in Kansas City. It makes an amazing backdrop for a wedding and a dance floor that feels like a private concert. Hitched did a fantastic job at accentuating the natural beauty of the building and elevating the space to make the reception really stand out. I loved the bridal party bouquet’s and Ali’s amazing flowers which she included a family rosary onto the base of. I would highly recommend working with Mackenzie and all of the girls at Hitched.

Getting Ready for Your Wedding at Home

One of my favorite things is getting to photograph people in their own spaces. There is something about preparing for the big day in a place that already feels safe and comfortable to you. You know where the snacks are, you know where you left that thing that you’re looking for, and ultimately, it saves you the time of having to move all of your junk from your house to your hotel room before you head off to the wedding. Ali got ready at a close friend’s home in Westwood and Tommy and the dudes got ready at their apartment nearby. I loved that they were able to relax during this part of the day and we got some real cute photos of their beloved cat, Alfred. :)
